Pippa Woods
Pippa Woods has a 200 acre livestock farm in Devon which is a member of the voluntary Countryside Stewardship scheme. It produces beef and grows barley and kale for cattle feed.
She is the chairman of the Family Farmers Association and in July was presented with an outstanding achievement award at the Annual Awards Ceremony held by Bicton – Devon’s land-based college.
The guest speaker, the Bishop of Exeter, insisted “The concept of fair trade should not just extend to the Third World. There should also, always, be fair trade for UK producers.”
Her 2003 paper, The future of small and family farmers, and a more recent Farming Manifesto can be downloaded from the undated UK Food Group report on CAP’s impact on productive structures and family-based agriculture in Europe – [refs indicate 2008 or later]
