Prince Charles advocates a price above the cost of production

Earlier this month, Prince Charles, who values the Fair Deal campaign, delivered a speech on the future of food in the world at Georgetown University.

Set aside the cynics; it is well worth seeing the video clips in the Washington Post , an intro on Youtube or – for the full message – seeing the university’s film [50 mins, with regular unscheduled breaks -] or reading the transcript.

The reference most closely relevant to this particular site’s concern was:

“A sustainable approach . . .includes the need for producers to receive a reasonable price for their labours above the price of production.”

With thanks for the lead to Gerald Miles, farming in Wales.
